After leaving Vatican Square, the group visited Castel Gandolfo, a picturesque Roman town nestled in the Alban Hills, overlooking the serene Lake Albano. Often considered one of the most scenic towns in Italy, it boasts stunning views and a charming atmosphere. The town is also home to the Apostolic Palace of Gandolfo, which serves as the summer residence and vacation retreat for the Pope. This expansive 135-acre property is rich in history and cultural significance, making it a fascinating stop along the way.

Our guests were then treated to a private guided tour of the Apostolici Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo- the Pope's Palace. After the tour, everyone had free time to explore the quaint streets of Castel Gandolfo, capturing beautiful photographs of the lush grounds and the sparkling Lake Albano.

Next, the group joined Father Cleo to celebrate Mass at the Chiesa di San Tommaso da Villanova, a small yet historic church located in the square in front of the Apostolic Palace. Designed by the renowned architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, the church features magnificent statues surrounding the altar and a stunning dome that draws the eye upward.

Dedicated to San Tommaso da Villanova (Saint Thomas of Villanova), this church honors a noted preacher and ascetic known for his compassionate care for the poor. His legacy as "Father of the Poor" continues to resonate today, thanks to his generous spirit and dedication to helping those in need.

The day ended with dinner and wine at Ristorante Pagnanelli. This elegant restaurant has been a family run business since 1882. It's the finest restaurant in Castle Gandolfo with breath taking views of Lake Albano, exquisite cuisine, and rich history to provide an unforgettable dining experience. Guests were served an Aperitif in the wine cellar made of volcanic rock, followed by dinner and wine on the terrace. Ristorante Pagnanelli was nothing short of spectacular.
